This is an easy break-in oil specifically for tune motors. No high voltage break-in required! Breaking in Tune Series Motors with PLM LUBRICANTS Tune series motors (such as Torque-Tune, Atomic-Tune, Light-Dash, etc.) use copper brushes. Breaking them in correctly is the key to unlocking maximum RPM and torque. Our break-in oil is specially formulated to optimize the contact patch of the copper brushes while preventing excessive wear. Break-in Method [ Items Needed ] Tune series motor (Brand new or lightly used) PLM LUBRICANTS Break-in Oil (For Tuned Motors: THE BLACK) Liquid cleaner (Plastic-safe / Non-damaging to resin. Avoid aerosol/spray types as they can cause internal condensation.) Power supply or battery case Step 1: Check Pre-Break-in RPM Connect the motor to your power source and check the baseline RPM using a measurement app or tachometer before starting the break-in process. We recommend using 3.0V as a standard baseline for measuring motor performance. Step 2: Apply the Oil ⚠️ IMPORTANT PRE-CONDITION Do NOT wash or flush the motor before applying the break-in oil. Do not wash away the factory-applied grease inside the motor. Our break-in oil is specifically designed to utilize and work together with this existing grease. Disconnect the motor from the power source. Apply 1 to 2 drops of the break-in oil directly onto the commutator (the copper cylinder where the brushes make contact) through the motor's cooling holes. Pro Tip: Do not over-apply. A small amount is enough to penetrate the brushes. Turn the motor shaft by hand a few times to spread the oil evenly. Step 3: Break-in Run Connect the motor to your power supply. Run the motor at a higher voltage (e.g., around 5.0V) for about 5 to 10 minutes in regular rotation, then reverse the polarity and run for another 5 to 10 minutes. (Note: Please adjust the voltage and time according to your own preferred break-in method.) Step 4: Flush the Brush Dust ⚠️ CRITICAL STEP Flush out the copper dust and dirt from the commutator area either by injecting additional break-in oil or by using a plastic-safe liquid cleaner (must be room temperature to prevent condensation). (Warning: Be careful when choosing a liquid cleaner. Some cleaners are unsuitable for motors and can negatively affect performance, such as causing a drop in RPM.) Step 5: Final Lubrication & Coating Once the motor break-in is complete, apply 1 drop of "For Tuned Motors: THE BLACK" to protect the freshly exposed copper surface from oxidation (oxide film) and maintain peak performance. [ Safety Notes ] Always use in a well-ventilated area. Flammable. Keep away from fire, sparks, or open flames. Wear safety glasses if necessary to prevent splashed oil or cleaner from entering your eyes. Avoid inhaling vaporized oil. Strict adult supervision is required when used by children. Please exercise extreme caution.
